The goal of the CINEVIA language Project is to improve the relationship between the students of the European Union using a universal language - English. Creativity will be one of the most important tools in the project.
CINEVIA will take place in Vialonga, Vila Franca de Xira, from the 24th to the 26th of May 2007. The main goal is the promotion of School Cinema, creating new audiences for this kind of film. The Project seeks to provide relevant inter-cultural experiences, beginning with integration into the curriculum in schools, to reinforce both the concept of the European dimension and European citizenship, promoting understanding of integration with the school community. Furthermore, the linguistic and cultural diversity should work as a factor in improving cooperative working across Europe.
A cinema Festival/Seminar will be organised which will be a cultural window in the relationship between Portugal and Scotland. The pupils will look for stories, legends, traditions and events and other relevant cultural aspects of each country, should be a primary consideration when deciding the idea for each script. The movies will be edited using a software package. The students involved will be responsible for the entire organisation of the Festival/Seminar CINEVIA , including the student exchanges, helped by the teachers involved and will manage all aspects of the movie production (techniques, actors, scripts, directing and editing). They will develop skills in cooperation, oral communication, interpretation of different media and text production (movies, subtitles, Festival/Seminar organisation), on the common cultural environment of both countries.
The CINEVIA project will reinforce relations between the school, the community and its facilities, which may be used in the presentation of the project's different stages, as well as promoting cultural/social debates. The CINEVIA project will last for one year. The closing date for applications will be 22nd March 2007.
